The Season To Adopt A Cat

The Season to Adopt A Cat

The season to adopt a cat is here. This was my first ezine article I submitted and given expert author status. How cool is that? It’s a  great Christmas gift!

My cats Jack and Joshua are very happy and pleased I’m devoting time in my blogs to their furry comrades.  Here are my angel kitties and my ezine article following it.

How about giving a gift that keeps on giving and giving love? That would be adopting a cat at your local animal shelter. There are many reasons why this would be a great gift for a young family member.

It’s that time of the year for giving. Why not give a present that will give and give longer than the energizer bunny. Giving the gift of adopting a cat for a young family member is truly a gift of love. The stores are full of toys, clothes, jewelry, perfume, gift cards etc. but not furry, kitties full for fun and endless entertainment. You need to go to a local animal shelter and pick out a special cat.
My suggestion is to take your child with you and have them pick out their new pet and companion. Explain how they need to treat the cat with love and attention, as they would expect to be treated. This can be a great learning experience in responsibility and caring for something other than themselves. They need to be sure to feed and give their new kitty, food and fresh water daily. They don’t need a bath since they clean themselves and the need to stay in the house. If you have fish or birds keep them out of that room and also away from plants that can be poisonous and make them sick. Get an identification tag for your cat just in case they get out of the house and get lost. This tag can be on an elastic collar with pertinent information on you and your cat. Most shelters will have spayed or neutered your cat. Visiting the veterinarian once a year to get shots and examinations will provide your cat with a healthy, long life. When you visit the shelter, look at all the cats and have the shelter helper bring the cat out for you to interact. See how alert and playful they are. It may take awhile to make a decision and the best thing that can happen is to consider TWO cats not just one. I have two cats and they are so content and happy to be together. It gives me peace of mind knowing when I’m gone they have each other.
The season is now, so I hope you take the time and make the trip and rescue ONE of God’s little treasures or TWO. You’ll be glad you did when you receive all that kitty love back.
Merry Christmas from Laura and her angel kitties.
